Finding a Good School is at the top of most family’s list when they are moving to a new area. We encourage you to research schools assignments before purchasing a home. Many people are disappointed to find out that their children will not necessarily go to the school nearest their new home.
Here is a partial list of links including some short videos, maps and other resources to help you get started on your research and if you need more information or have any questions feel free to send us an email - just ask!
We are here to answer your questions and talk about your school wants and needs. Our team lead, Sarah Mendel has spent a significant amount of time involved in the Wake County Public School System and would welcome the opportunity to share her experience with you or take you for a tour.
Please Note: If you enroll your child in the public school system, grades K through 12 something you'll want to consider is what type of school year calendar you will choose. The traditional schools operate on a traditional nine month school year and offer a core of base studies along with a host of electives. The year-round schools offer the same curriculum but with a 12-month school year divided into four tracks with three to four week vacations between tracks. The magnet schools offer specialized curriculums with major emphasis in several disciplines based on the student's future plans.
Different from many areas, most school districts here in North Carolina are organized and administered at the county level. The Chapel Hill/Carrboro city system is not. However, our area school rankings are some of the highest in the southeast and nation!
